Seung Hee Lee is PhD. and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba, Japan. She worked on the development of “Onigiri Machine-Device for safety of children” SCOPE, funded by MIC 2010. Her major research topics are in Kansei Interaction, Kansei Media, and studying the creativity of designers using fMRI. Since 2004, she has collaborated in interdisciplinary studies with Brain and Cognitive scientists with the goal of creating new ideas for integrated research.
Currently, she researches Human Cognitive Behavior focused on Adaptive Problem Solving together with professor Muneo Kitajima, developer of the Cognitive Chrono-Ethnography methodology.
Seung Hee Lee has worked as Visiting Professor at the Southern Denmark University in 2014, together with professor Jacob Buur. She has also collaborated in Tangible-Kansei project alongside professors Kees C. Overbeeke and Philip Ross at the Technical University of Eindhoven in 2004.
Professor Lee has been a Senior Researcher at Ideate Lab., leading the most creative design group of TU/Delft together with professor Jim Hennesey. She has also co-authored the article Design based on Kansei with professor P.J. Stappers, part of the book Pleasure with Products at TU/Delft in 1999.
Her Ph.D. study, supervised by the pioneer in interdisciplinary Kansei Science in Japan, professor Akira Harada, introduced the very beginnings of Kansei Theories. She has also worked as an Industrial Designer at GM Daewoo in 1988, after graduating from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea.
