Yume Koyama graduated as a bachelor from the Soka University in Japan where she majored in Expressive Culture in the Department of Humanities. She focused on analyzing dialogue of American theater. For her thesis, she studied the dramaturgical characteristics of Tennessee Williams’ play called “A Streetcar Named Desire,”. She has also studied abroad for seven months at the University of Delaware in the United States where she joined a hip-hop dance club. Here she discovered the fun of freestyle dance and developed an interest in expressing one’s personal kansei through dance. She entered the graduate school of the University of Tsukuba to pursue dance and learned about the diversity of dance expression. This also lead to her getting the opportunity to meet and visit Lee Lab. And currently, she is interested in the creation of artworks made through dance, video, and drawing.
